Balthazar didn't like crowds.
He didn't like humans, either. So crowds of humans were definitely very low on his list of happy things. However, he was sort of lost-- so he had no choice but to walk here and attempt to stay out of everyone's way.
It was noon, and the sun shown brightly in the cloudless sky. Balthazar was hunched over on the very edge of the sidewalk, as far as he could get from the cars that zoomed by at enormous speeds, flashing their unnatural colors sharply. He was pressed against the wall, walking as quickly as possible, and trying to remain inconspicuous. He wasn't doing a good job at all. He was a very big dog, and very dark. He stuck out starkly in the daytime. He could feel the human eyes all over him and wanted to snap at them, snarl and bite till they ran off screaming. This hostility rolled off him in waves, and where he walked he was given a wide berth. He did make a threatening image; a huge husky, hunched over, stinking, a half snarl plastered on his face.
The cement crunched against Balthazar's broad paws painfully as he trotted forward, hackles raised. Though he was used to the pavement and concrete from long ago, he had been walking on snow and dirt for some time now, and his pads had gotten soft. The hardness was a rude awakening, but he ignored the pain as he continued. Anything to get out of this place.
This whole thing was stupid, actually. Thinking of it raised the snarl deeper on Balthazar's face. He had accidentally trodden on the turf of one of the local packs, and three huge dogs had chased him out fore fully. He hated being chased out. He would have left on his own terms, if they'd even listened. Stupid pack-creatures.
They had run him to the sunny street, then guarded the ally he had come from. He couldn't go back through that way or he would meet their teeth. Now he had to plod among these humans until he found some way out. If only those dogs weren't so big and strong... and three of them! If his ears hadn't already been plastered to the back of his head, Balthazar would have laid them back as another growl rose in his throat. The humans avoided him as much as they could without stepping on the snow banks that were piled up as a blockade for the street.
Cold blue eyes scanning the wall, Balthazar searched desperately for some way out. These bricks seemed to go on forever! And it was so bright in the sun that he stood out starkly, and had no way of hiding anyway. He felt exposed. This wasn't his world. His world was in the night, the snow, the grass, the natural things-- not this bright, stark, synthetic world. That was only good at night, when it was abandoned.
There! Suddenly, his eyes alighted on a dark spot in the brick. He quickened his pace until he was bounding, pulling startled sounds from the humans. He didn't stop until he rounded a corner into a narrow street way. The building cast a sharp shadow on the place. In the dark, Balthazar relaxed. This was much, much better.

Mitts pounded the terra, strutting Az around the streets. All the humans and their objects, their loud sounds, their rough movements, all was rather intresting. They amazed her so, though she still did not like them much what so ever. They many times disturbed her peace, but they were still itruiging to her mind. A car, if that's what the humans called them, rushed down and spun in Aza's direction. Bitch leaped out of the way, quite startled by the whole thing. Now, after that, more two-leggeds had started after her, chasing 'er. Optics glanced around for a safehaven, a place to lose the humans. Swiftly as she could, fae dodged under several human belongings, in between feet, and sharply running 'round corners. Finally, orbs caught sight of an alleyway, a dark, shadow enclosed area. She had lost them a while back, but still, it was smarter to take hiding than remain on the streets where she stood quite visible. As much as she did not blend in with the shadows, still, she doubted it was easy to be seen within that alleyway. Nostrils flared, bitch picking up scents of a brute nearby. All she could really figure out though, was that it was a brute, and nothing more. Fae kept silent, not feeling a need to speak with the brujo, a small awkwardness spacing between. She was not social unless there was a need to be. {No muse today, just felt I should post finally since I haven't since the day I joined xD }

(( No, it's good! XD I've been waiting forever for someone to post... ))
Balthazar's shaggy head rose as he heard the quick tap-tapping of quick moving paws. Had the pack dogs chased his scent after all? He was ready to jump to his paws and fight when an unfamiliar female rounded the corner suddenly, panting slightly as if running. The pack dogs carried a strange scent; a mix of many dogs and the stench of the terrotiry they claimed as their own. This female did not possess the scent. The husky relaxed slightly, watching her as she padded into the shaded area. She eyed him for a moment, pale orbs glittering, before padding a few catlengths away and sitting down, still breathing slightly hard.
She said nothing, which didn't bother Balthazar at all. He found most dogs too chatty, and even if they had something interesting to say (they usually didn't)they dragged it out for far too long, insisting that the black and white dog contribute to the conversation. He watched the female for a moment. She had short, sandy fur. She must feel the cold of this winter season more than he. Feeling her eyes on him, he flicked his ears and nodded his head it a quick greeting. Polite and guarded; such was Balthazar's way with other dogs.

Bitch took the nod politely, and indeed gestured the same way back towards the brujo. This was usually the only way she would greet another, therefore she found it strange for few were like herself. Auds pinned back, listening for sounds of any humans that came by. Neither scared, nor acting protective or dominant over anything, fae remained cool, relaxed, and seated comfortably on the cold terra. Sure, the temperature wasn't too great, but hell, everything's a state of mind, and that usually kept Az warm anyways. Many times, she'd sing songs of 'er homeland to keep her comfortable and warm at heart. Whipcord tucked in neatly 'round 'er rump, just to keep it mildly warm, not that she was being submissive. Around anyone, her size or not, never would the bitch act submissive, nor dominant. It was to show, that she had no rule over another, and that domination and rule over one because of strength and physical power, was not right. It is the power of mind that makes one the vigorous ruler, not their muscle. Finally, after a mild wait, bitch arose, slightly stretching each pair of extremities, front first, then back, followed by a small stretch of the mandible to show 'er fatigue. Rump settled down once again, now only seating the fae, not lying 'er down, and also in the direction of the brute, though slightly off facing 'wards the east. Optics, every so often, glanced back, eyeing the brujo. He was rather intresting, that of longer locks, a husky perhaps. Fair in sizing, and in her perspective of most huskies, quite handsome, for she never quite took a liking to those of her class.

(( Two antisocial characters...XD ))
Balthazar turned away from the female, eyeing the street again. He was pleased he wouldn't have to go out there again, but the fact remained he didn't exactly know where he was. Oh, well. It wasn't as if he actually had a place to go to, anyway. He slept and ate where it suited him.
Rested, he was just about to leave when he suddenly caught a dog-scent on a breeze that happened to blow by at that moment. Not just one scent, he realized, bristling. He couldn't tell how many, but he recognized more than one from before, when he had been chased onto the street. He stood quickly, hackles raised. He thought he would be able to slip away before they reached the alleyway, but they were coming alarmingly fast. He hadn't even begun to move when and ugly, scarred muzzle rounded the corner. "You!" the mutt spat. Behind him trailed four other lean street dogs.
Time to go, thought Balthazar. Turning, he remembered the female. "Let's go," he said, and began to run, paws clicking on the cement. The dogs gave chase, snarling.

{Yup xD I'm not one to make talkative characters} Nostrils flared, picking up individual scents of other canines. Appearently though, this brute was not welcoming of their approach. His reasonings, she did not know why, but for a small moment, she would trust, for there was no reason not to do so. Mitts picked up, following more a fast walk, staying few meters behind the brujo, leaving space and giving 'im full lead, since he was indeed the one taking her to, where ever they were going. Auds pinned 'gainst cranium during this odd 'lil strut she had been placed upon, but no questions arose in her mind. If there was no reason not to beleive, then beleive, and if no suspicion arises, do not suspect. Therefore, there was no need for a question to ask of the brute. Whipcord remained hellbound, mildly swinging back and forth, matching the melodic pace of 'er dance. Grace, for Aza, came perfectly, due to her delicate and sleek form, though it almost added a rather rat-ish look towards 'er. The somewhat off beat pattern of 'er claws clicking 'gainst the terra came somewhat as a mild annoyance, and was to be fixed. Everything seemed to come musical to the fae, whether the wind, the streets, or the mere breathing of one's jugulars, she could find its beats, its flaws, and its wonderous chords. So, progressively she changed the beat and pattern of 'er mitts, making it more to a pacey, classical tune she had heard off of a human object that plays sounds, and what humans called music, off of it. A radio, so they must've said. Either way, she loved to listen when there was a chance. But really, at this time was it anytime to be thinking of music? Bah, why not? But Az became obsessed, therefore, there was no turning back....

(( Sorry it took so long! ))
Balthazar broke into a full pelt forward, racing against the snarls at his back. The alleyway blurred as he ran, long fur streaming backward like a banner. This wasn't a very long alley, he saw now; it would soon break into another open street. A snarl grew on his face. He thought he was out of open streets for good.
Suddenly, though, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a turnoff into another alley. Paws skidding on the cement, he turned sharply, barely making the swing. It was a narrow way, unlike the one he had been in before. The followers had to travel one by one to fit. Balthazar cast a glance over his shoulder and caught sight of the female, running behind him. He was sorry to get her into this, and he hoped he could explain later. Assuming he wasn't crow food later, of course.
The narrow alley stretched in curvy leaps and bounds. However, a dead end met Balthazar's eyes suddenly. A tell fence stretched high against the gray walls. Barely perceptively, the husky slowed. What now? The snarls and backs behind him were growing louder with every passing second. If he stopped to fight, he would surely be killed, not to mention the female.
A building jutted inward, widening the alley briefly and casting in a ray of sunlight. In the light, Balthazar suddenly saw his escape. A rickety black structure extended high up the wall of a building. The husky could already hear the triumphant howls behind him. Not yet, he thought grimly. Not thinking of what would happen after he reached the top, he leaped up the rickety ladder. It groaned and swayed alarmingly under his paws, but he continued to jump upward.

((Not a problem )) Mitts silently padded 'long 'hind the brute. Now, from the strut she had propelled into a lope, auds pinnning back 'gainst 'er dished cranium the whole way, awaiting the baneful sound of other canines behind them. Whipcord kept alligned with 'er blades, in which alligned with Az's stop. This was for more precise speed, in particular, along with with 'er thin sleek shape, speed and endurance came somewhat too easy, but still, she kept distance for the brute to lead and run. When it was tuned into a sharp turn to lead right into a dead end, fae herself had been looking and awaiting to find an escape, but this brute had found one before 'er. Fae 'erself leaped up, slipping off everyonce in a while, but climbing 's if her life depended on it. Which it most likely did. And then it was silent, every sound blurred from her thought and mind. Every sight kept in the shadows, except the brute, and except for the booming and deadly pounding of mitts. The song played in 'er cranium, a song she had heard from humans before. It seemed to blend yet throw out every other sound, of the howling, the barking, and the battle cries. Raznije nochi, raznije ludi Hochet - ni hochet, lubit - ni lubit Kto-ta atstanit, kto-to saskochit Kto-ta ustanit i pirikhochit
Kto-ta zakrutit provat na kliemmi Kto-ta zamutit novie temi Kto-ta ponti, a kto-ta man'jak Kto-ta kak ti, a kto-ta kak ja!
Ni zazhigaj i ni gasi Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi I uspakojsya, i uspakojsya! Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi Ni ver', ni bojsya! Ni ver', ni bojsya Ni ver', ni bojsya I ni prasi!
Gde-ta est' mnoga to, chigo malo No na darogah budit ablava Kto-ta riskniot, a kto-ta ni smozhit Kto-ta poymiot, no on ni pomozhit
Kto-ta ujdiot, kto-ta virniotza Kto-ta najdiot novaje solnze Kto-ta v kusti, a kto-ta v minia Kto-ta kak ti, kto-ta kak ja
Ni zazhigaj i ni gasi Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi I uspakojsya, i uspakojsya! Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi Ni ver', ni bojsya, ni prasi Ni ver', ni bojsya Ni ver', ni bojsya Ni ver', ni bojsya I ni prasi!
Oh dear, there she went again, singing her songs in her head, screaming them out through mind, thinking aloud, all just came too naturally... She'd have to stop hanging around those two-leggeds very soon...

The fire escape rattled and shook as Balthazar's paws pounded up the stairs. As he came to the top, sunlight blasted him in the face, blinding him momentarily. However, he didn't let it slow him down. He leaped on to the roof before him, claws skidding, and raced on. Her could hear the light clicking of the female behind him and the howls of their pursuers. They had been far enough behind that by the time Balthazar and the female had reached the top, they were just starting on the bottom.
Not pausing to think, the five of them charged up the stairway. However, the rickety structure was not nearly strong enough to hold nearly four hundred pounds of dog at once; as they reached the middle, the black staircase's grip on the roof was lost. The triumphant howls of the followers changed to yelps and cries of fear as the black stairs began to fall backward. The top crashed against the building opposite. It skidded a few more inches, screeching alarmingly, before stopping. While it had not reached the ground and the brutes were still alive, there was no way to reach the roof anymore.
Their fading howls spoke of revenge, but Balthazar's tail waved slightly with triumph. Turning to the female, he said, "I apologize for dragging you into that." His voice was quiet, but carried well.

{Sorry for the wait! XD } Bitch scrambled up the ladder, hoping to sucessfully meet the brute at the top- And it was so. Anon, the baneful cries and avenging screams of the canines below cooed and echoed throughout the alleyways, and soon she found her, and the brujo, safe, at the top of some, building. Auds pinned back 'gainst cranium, listening to the brutes chords of the second speech he had given 'wards her, these being particularly more gentle than before, for now they were not in trouble. Fae nodded 'er cranium, in thanks, and in sort of a "No problem" gesture. Now, it seemed somewhat rightful to talk, in some way at least, or thank someway through speech. "Thanks for the help. M'name's Az." Help. He had only helped really, not to sound rather a hog for the credit in saving her life, however, she could've been able to escape on her own, alive and well. Yet still, the brute had helped and made it somewhat easier, and for that she stood greatful. Whipcord tucked 'ween 'er legs as 'er rump settled down once more, nearing the edge of the building. Nostrils flared, slightly picking up minor scents of blood, either from those that may have injured themselves below, or the brutes, but not hers.

|| It's fine^-^ ||
"Thanks for the help. M'name's Az."
"Balthazar," the husky replied. They were quite high up in the air, and though it was winter, the day was breeze less, and being this close to the sun was starting to make him uncomfortable. They way they had come up was certainly not a way to get down. They'd have to find another way. Turning, he observed the roof they were standing on. It was broad, and flat, like most city rooves. A few human potted plants lay here and there, withered in the winter weather.
Hoping there would be another ladder, Balthazar padded over to the other end of the roof.

{Gr, got so many things going on. Sorry, again, for the wait, and the short paragraph} Balthazar. Quite the rather, strict, cold name, yet when placed on the positive side one of beauty, and kind heart. However, a name was nothing but a mere word to dub another, to know the difference between one another, and to be unique, diverse, or all together one who was different than some other. Optics slightly began scanning the perimeter, noting down possible escapes, as the brujo seemed to already be doing. And, as she had learned from past experiences with hanging around with two-leggeds, to many buildings, if one could get to the top, there would most likely be yet another exit, located right where one was- At the top. Mitts padded the terra, sighting somewhat a shed, perhaps, made of cement, 'long with some other rectangular tubes 'round it. Extremities carried 'er delicate frame 'wards the other side of it, and alas, there was a door, yet it was solidly shut, and most likely locked. Orbs wandered towards the brute, hoping to catch his attention. When grabbed, 'er skull would nod 'wards the left, towards the door which she had found.

|| Not at all! ^-^ ||
The female acknowledged him quietly and politely. She then turned to look around before padding up to a sort of rectangular struture in the center of the roof. Her legs were thin, and carried her body with grace, and a distinct sort of pride. Not a show off, he judged, blue eyes watching her sharply. She wasn't quite aware of how beautiful other dogs may find her. He looked up into her eyes as she indicated the human door. He eyed in for a moment, then slowly prowled forward.
He had seen these blockades before. At first glance, they looked completely solid; on closer inspection, however, one could scent the draft that drifted out through the sides. Balthazar had observed humans making these walls fall open. They took their forpaw to the protruding circle and pushed it in that way that only their strange paws could seem to manage. It would be difficult for him and Aza to pass.
He stood by her side, eyeing the orb on the wall. It glittered in the midmorning sunlight, dazzling him briefly with golden light. Blinking, he reared suddenly, balancing his weight on his hind legs and pressing his forpaws against the wooden barrier. It was solid, however, and didn't collapse with decay like some of the boards at the junkyard. He let himself fall back to the ground, then turned to Aza, his glance qustioning. Could she work this strange human invention?

The eyeing gesture had been taken up and out without worry, fae had many times been stared like that before, so Az didn't take so much time looking back. However, she did happen to notice the purity and divine diversity of Balt's optics, for indeed they were quite gorgeous, yet baneful, though in that of a way of beauty, not quite garish. Either way, it was time to get to work, and focus. She had opened such things before, but usually, well, almost always, they were left locked, and could only be opened by pulling the metal handles, so a cleaning two-legged had explained and showed her. But may as well try, who would give up before even giving it a go? Luckily, this handle was located nearer to the ground, in a place she could reach without having to lift 'erself off of the ground. Mandible snapped shut dead on the bar, claws n' mitts skidding 'cross the concrete terra as she began to pull. Somehow, by some random choicing this building Balthazar had chosen was abandoned, therefore exposing the reason the ladder did not contain stability, besides the over large amount of load 'pon its frame, and it would also explain, why the door was unlocked. This most likely meant mold, leftover furniture, rodents, broken windows, ect. However, there was a slight chance the downstairs entrance at the front was locked, and that being locked one would find no reason to lock the roof door, would they? Managing to get but only a fair bit open, Az quickly spun 'n turned, throwing 'erself into the middle of it, the heavy door slamming smack on 'er shoulders, luckily from there she was capable of holding it open.
"Get inside..."
The gesture was made 'wards the inside, Aza's crani shaking as 'er auds flipped 'long with them, showing the brute the correct direction, though it was hard to confuse.
"Just jump over me, I can't get in first or I'll lock you out.."
She awaited for 'im, the door beginning to weaken 'er blades. Hopefully he'd hurry, though she was somewhat patient, and didn't mind the slight bits of pain.

The female reached foreward and bit the metal protrusion. With a creak, the wall swung open. However, Balthazar could see it was quite heavy; Aza's shoulders strained under the weight of it. "Get inside," she said, squaring her body against the opening. "Just jump over me. I can't get in first or I'll lock you out." The husky's tail twitched slightly in surprise. Jumping over her would not be easy. Though he was a large dog with long legs, she certainly wasn't the shortest creature of her breed.
Taking a several pawsteps backward, he tensed his legs for a running start. His ears fell flat back, his eyes narrowed, he sudden surged forward. He left the ground with a push of his hind legs, and for a moment sailed through the air. He felt his paws twitch as they came very near to touching Aza's back, but he was through in a moment. He landed squarely as his forepaws then his hindpaws connected with a landing of a staricase. The staircase spiraled downward into darkness.
He flicked his ears at Aza, waiting for her to follow.
